چکیده

ObjectivesAlthough literature exists on using qualitative methods to generate potential attributes for a discrete choice experiment (DCE), there is little selecting which include. We present case study in best-worst scaling 1 (BWS-1) survey was used guide attribute selection DCE. The study’s context the decision making of professionals around augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems children with limited natural speech.MethodsBWS-1 were generated from reviews focus groups. DCE selected BWS-1 attributes. criteria were: include mostly important attributes; create coherent descriptions AAC systems; address project’s research aims; have an appropriate respondent burden. Attributes’ importance judged relative scores.ResultsThe included 19 child 18 device/system administered N = 93 professionals. Four five DCE, 155 professionals.ConclusionsIn this results useful selection. recommendations are made future studies: define priori; consider impact participant’s perspective will results; clearly key terminology at start refine it as progresses reflect interim findings; BWS be when existing stated preference work topic and/or difficult.

Testing Cessation Messages for Cigarette Package Inserts: Findings from a Best/Worst Discrete Choice Experiment

This study assessed smokers' responses to different smoking cessation topics and imagery for cigarette package inserts. Adult smokers from Canada (n = 1000) participated in three discrete choice experiments (DCEs): DCE 1 assessed five cessation benefit topics and five imagery types; DCE 2 assessed five messages with tips to improve cessation success and five imagery types; DCE 3 assessed four r...

Parents and adolescents preferences for asthma control: a best-worst scaling choice experiment using an orthogonal main effects design

BACKGROUND The preferences of parents and children with asthma influence their ability to manage a child's asthma and achieve good control. Potential differences between parents and adolescents with respect to specific parameters of asthma control are not considered in clinical asthma guidelines. The objective was to measure and compare the preferences of parents and adolescents with asthma wit...

Best-worst scaling vs. discrete choice experiments: an empirical comparison using social care data.

This paper presents empirical findings from the comparison between two principal preference elicitation techniques: discrete choice experiments and profile-based best-worst scaling. Best-worst scaling involves less cognitive burden for respondents and provides more information than traditional "pick-one" tasks asked in discrete choice experiments. However, there is lack of empirical evidence on...
